Sudell Cross viewed from King William Street

This is looking from King William Street, across Sudell Cross, into Preston New Road. The turning to the right, is the start of Limbrick. To the left of the ornate looking building, on the extreme left of the view, would be Simmons Street and then even further left, where the gents are heading, Northgate. The ornate building (Art School is it?), is still there today, as are the properties in the centre of the image and the shop on the extreme right. The tram has gone, so you've missed it.

  1. Colin, you sure the ornate building is still there? I must remember to look up the next time I pass.

  2. Yes dmc, the building is definitely still there and has hardly changed, apart from the addition of a few 21st century advertising boards (it's now print service, or something) and perhaps a few coats of paint over the century.

  3. The Ornate Building is still there, it is Fisky's Hair Salon and as far as I am aware it was a Dance School rather than an Art School. The Buildings further up Preston New Road have been demolished to be replaced with the delightful Capita Building

  4. Thanks Heath. It could have been a dance school at some point, but I'm pretty sure it has Art School carved into the stonework somewhere. I'm not 100% sure (I may have imagined it), so I'll have a look next time I pass.
