The Boulevard (x 2) - 1925 & 1966


Two quite common shots of the Boulevard, taken from a similar angle. The top one is from c1925 and the bottom one dates to approximately 1966.  As fond as I am of the 1960's, I have to admit I prefer the 1920's view.

    In the 1925 picture of the Boulevard, the tower in the background is The Northern Daily Telegraph building and the taxi rank is from the Station Garage.

    In the lower picture, the bus nearest to us is a darwen corporation vehicle

    It's interesting to see the Boulevard in the year I was born - and that wasn't 1966. 1966 was the year I left Australia to live in Canada.
